How to create an AXL application user?<\/strong><\/p>\n

This document describes the steps to create an AXL application user.
\nThis AXL application user is required for several features of ALM. One of this feature is to logon to a phone by entering the DN of the logged of phone. This is a feature which can be used in Terminal Networks, Split Networks or Wireless Networks.<\/p>\n

If no Automatic Device Detection (ADD) can take place because there is no physical 1-on-1 network connection between the computer and the device this method can be used. It is an alternative to the method of using a mapping file.<\/p>\n

It allows a user to enter the Directory Number (DN) of the logged off Phone, ALM will query the Communications Manager (CUCM) and will login the user to the phone.<\/p>\n

Prerequisites<\/strong><\/p>\n

This manual describes steps suited for Communications Manager 10.x. older versions of CUCM may differ.<\/p>\n

Step 0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Login to Cisco Unified Communications Manager as an Administrator and navigate to User Management \\ Application User <\/em>and create a new Application user with the username almaxluser<\/strong> and password almaxluser<\/strong><\/p>\n

Step 1<\/strong><\/p>\n

Login to Cisco Unified Communications Manager as an Administrator and navigate to User Management \\ User Settings \\ Role<\/em><\/p>\n

Step 2<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the Find and List Roles<\/em> page click Add New<\/strong><\/p>\n

Step 3<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the next page select \u201cCisco CallManager AXL Database\u201d from the pull-down menu and click Next<\/strong><\/p>\n

Step 4<\/strong><\/p>\n

Add a \u201cName\u201d and a \u201cDescription\u201d and tick the box called \u201cAllow to use API\u201d<\/p>\n

Click Save<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Step 5<\/strong><\/p>\n

Navigate to User Management \\ User Settings \\ Access Control Group<\/em><\/p>\n

Step 6<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the Find and List Roles<\/em> page click Add New<\/strong><\/p>\n

Add a \u201cName\u201d and click Save<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the next page click \u201cAdd App User to Group\u201d<\/p>\n

Within the new page that pops-up search for the user with UserID almaxluser<\/strong>, tick the box to select the user and click on Add Selected<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the previous page click Save<\/strong><\/p>\n

Step 11<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the top right corner select Assign Role to Access Control Group<\/strong> from the pull-down menu<\/p>\n

In the next windows click on the button Assign Role to Group<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the Find and List Roles page click on find button and select Custom AXL Access<\/strong> tick the box to select the Role and click on Add Selected<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the previous page click Save<\/strong><\/p>\n

Return to the Application User page under User Management, search for the in step 0 created Application User and verify the Groups and Roles configuration, it must no contain the Custom AXL Access reference<\/p>\n
