Recently we launched our new Forwarding Assistant for Cisco desktop phones. With this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rsconnect.net\/en\/solutions\/call-forwarding-assistent\/\">solution<\/a>, call forwarding works automatically instead of a manual invocation each time you want to use it. Here we explain how it works and how you configure the Forwarding Assistant.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rsconnect.net\/en\/support\/download-alm-trial\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5975 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rsconnect.net\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/button3b-1-300x55.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"55\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rsconnect.net\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/button3b-1-300x55.png 300w, https:\/\/www.rsconnect.net\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/button3b-1.png 572w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>How does automatic call forwarding work?<\/h2>\n<p>Call forwarding is a handy feature to redirect incoming desk phone or Jabber calls when you are away from your desk. However, Call Forwarding normally requires a manual action (on the user\u2019s phone or Jabber client) each time you want to use it. With our Forwarding Assistant this inconvenience is solved once and for all. We simply synchronize call forwarding with your computer status:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If the computer is active, incoming calls are routed to the default destination in the Cisco network. Typically, your desktop phone or Jabber client.<\/li>\n<li>As soon as you switch off the computer (or it goes into standby or hibernate), calls are automatically redirected to &#8211; for example &#8211; your mobile phone. This can be configured once, and it will always work like this.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So, instead of a manual invocation each time you use call forwarding, it is a one-time call forwarding configuration. From then on, call forwarding is fully automated.<\/p>\n<h2>Call forwarding configuration in the Forwarding Assistant client<\/h2>\n<p>The Forwarding Assistant is installed as a software client on your computer. Customers who already use our ALM client, will see a new, separate \u2018Forwarding\u2019 tab.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you click on the Forwarding tab, you see the current forwarding settings. For each computer status event, one of the following actions may be configured:\n<ul>\n<li>Routing incoming calls to an alternative destination number. For example your mobile number or the reception.<\/li>\n<li>Routing incoming calls to Voicemail.<\/li>\n<li>No action, which means that incoming calls get their default routing. Typically to the desktop phone or Jabber client.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">In the example below, calls are forwarded to a cell phone number when the computer goes into standby\/hibernate or if the screensaver starts. If the computer is locked, calls are forwarded to voicemail. As a result, the window as shown below pops up and for each computer status event you can now redefine the required action. When finished, you can save your configuration and close the client.
